Neil Westwood: Principal Counsellor
Neil (he/him) is a Registered Social Worker, qualified whānau ora navigator, and experienced counsellor who brings over a decade of practice supporting individuals, couples, rangatahi, and whānau.
Over the years, Neil has become known for his calm, grounded presence and his ability to create a space where people feel safe, heard, and understood. His approach is steady and relational. It's the kind of support that helps people exhale, settle, and explore what’s really going on beneath the surface.
Neil’s work spans a wide range of areas, including relationship dynamics, communication, intimate partner abuse and violence, anger and emotional regulation, parenting, men’s wellbeing, harmful or unhelpful behaviours, and major life transitions.
He has a particular strength in helping people navigate the moments that feel overwhelming or stuck.... the places where patterns repeat, emotions run high, or life takes an unexpected turn. Clients often describe feeling both supported and gently challenged in ways that help them grow, reflect, and move forward.
His practice is grounded in person‑centred, trauma‑informed, and strength‑based approaches. Neil works alongside clients rather than in front of them, helping them make sense of their experiences at a pace that feels safe and manageable. He brings curiosity, compassion, and clarity to each session, supporting people to reconnect with their strengths, understand their emotions, and build the confidence to make meaningful changes in their lives.
Whether someone is navigating conflict, rebuilding trust, managing anger, working through grief, or trying to understand themselves more deeply, Neil offers a steady, respectful presence. His work is shaped by the belief that everyone deserves a space where they can be honest, vulnerable, and supported and that with the right guidance, people can move toward greater clarity, connection, and wellbeing.
