About Plot Twist Talk Therapy
Plot Twist Talk Therapy was co‑founded in March 2024 by Neil Westwood and Melanie Young.
After many years working together across community health and wellbeing initiatives, Melanie and Neil decided it was time to create a practice that reflected their shared values... a small, grounded space where people could feel seen and supported during life’s most challenging moments. They wanted a practice where connection mattered, where people were met with compassion rather than judgment, and where support felt personal rather than clinical.
With Neil’s background as a Registered Social Worker and counsellor, and Melanie’s expertise in community health leadership, they saw an opportunity to build something that blended professional skill with lived experience, relational care, and practical, real‑world support. Their shared values of authenticity, accessibility, respect, and a strong belief in people’s capacity to grow became the foundation of the practice.
Plot Twist Talk Therapy was created as a place where people could feel safe, understood, and supported through life’s unexpected turns. A place where every person is welcomed as they are, where their story is honoured, and where the work happens at a pace that feels right for them.
Rooted in a simple intention to offer meaningful, accessible support, the practice has grown into a trusted service supporting individuals, couples, rangatahi, and whānau across the Central North Island and online throughout Aotearoa... all while staying true to the values that shaped it from the beginning.
